About Call A Ride

Call A Ride began operations in 1974 as a transportation service for senor citizens in Ada, Oklahoma. The program expanded in 1983 to include services to persons with disabilities and to the public, and expanded to include all of Pontotoc County in 1998. Discounted fares are available to Senior Citizens 55 years of age or older, persons with disabilities and East Central University students. Primary service is call on demand within Pontotoc County and to major bus lines and Amtrak depots in surrounding counties.

Call A Ride is a non profit corporation that was incorporated  February 1984, receives funding from Oklahoma Department of Transportation, government grants, City of Ada,  and contracts from local business’s . Call A Ride has a board of directors that meet every Monday if business is scheduled on posted agenda. 

Due to funding cut back’s Call A Ride now has 5 full time drivers, 2 part time driver, 1 dispatcher, 1 director, and 1 Administrative Assistant to the Director. Services have been reduced to the hours of 7 am to 4 pm, last call for a ride is 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.  When funding is increased then Call A Ride will be able to provide more services.
